Check the installation info below if you wish to learn how to flash this new official update manually on your smartphone.
This is a great guide for those that don’t want to wait until Samsung pushes out the official OTA Android 5.0.1 Update for their Galaxy S4 LTE.
Before starting the installation process you will have to read the preparation info listed below:
  • use this guide only with the International Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE model number I9505.
    – check the model number of your device under Setting> About Phone menu.
    – make sure that the GT – I9505 version is listed there.
  • do not attempt to update any other different Galaxy S4 smartphones with the files that you will find in this article.
  • make sure to install the Samsung USB Drivers on your computer first before.
    – installing these drivers will help your computer detect the smartphone.
  • enable USB Debugging for your device from the Developer Option menu.
    – if you can’t find Developer Options, then you will need to enable this menu first.
    – here’s a guide that teaches you how to enable Developer Options and then USB Debugging for the Galaxy S5, it works for all Samsung and other Android devices.
  • if you have Samsung KIES software installed on your computer, then you will have to disable it.
    – also, disable any antivirus app from running.
  • ODIN 3.09 is the app that you will use to update your phone and KIES along with antivirus apps might not allow it to run, so it would be better for you to disable them before starting installation.
  • if your Galaxy S4 LTE is rooted, then the official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop firmware installation is going to remove root access completely.
    – any custom Recovery that you might have installed on your device will be removed completely too and replaced with Stock Recovery image.
  • in case your smartphones runs on a custom ROM, then you will have to apply an extra step after installing this new ROM, which is to ‘factory reset’ the device.
    – ‘factory reset’ doesn’t remove any files from the internal storage nor from the external microSD card if there is one connected to your phone.
    – without applying ‘factory reset’ for phones with custom ROMs you cannot install any new firmware files.
  • if your Galaxy S4 LTE is running stock Android 4.4.x KitKat, then this update will be completed without problems and you won’t risk losing any data in the process.
  • in case you still need to save some data from installed applications, then you can try to use the Helium tool for Android tool.
    – Contacts and People details need to be synced with your default Gmail account.
  • check the battery charge level of your device before starting installation, you need to make sure that there is still 50% power left before the device powers off completely.
  • read the entire guide and do not skip any steps listed below.
  • this is a tutorial that you should use only if you’re an advanced Android user.
    – we cannot be held responsible in case you end up losing any important data files.
Now that you know all of the above and you wish to go ahead with the Galaxy S4 LTE Lollipop Manual Update tutorial, then you should continue to the next part of this post.
